Chew Toys and Teething
When it comes to cutting teeth, puppies can be just like human babies. It can make them irritable, and they need something to sooth their sore gums. Having the right chew toys around the house is key to helping your puppy out while he is teething. They can also help discourage bad behaviors like biting on fingers and toes and chewing on inappropriate items like furniture.
General Tips
Ask your Dallas veterinarian about some helpful hints to relieve some of the soreness while your puppy is teething. Nylabones are good item for a teething puppy. Remember to keep things off the floor. Practically anything is fair game when a teething puppy is on the loose. Pick up shoes, papers, pens, and other items that your puppy could latch onto and destroy.
Focus Their Chewing
Your puppy’s chewing should always be directed to items that you select. Both Gumabone and Nylabone type products are good choices because they do not fall apart easily and their material is soothing to teething gums. Avoid using items that look similar to the items that you don’t want your new dog chewing on.
Safety
Electrical cords are extremely tempting for puppies cutting their teeth because of their flexible and rubber nature. This poses a huge danger to your pet because they could get electrocuted while chomping away at a television cable. Tape electrical cords and cables to the wall or have them suspended out of your puppy’s reach.
